Marjorie A. Berger, practices in the Business and Litigation departments at Harrang Long Gary Rudnick P.C. where she focuses on advising closely-held businesses through every stage of their business life cycles, including formation of business entities; negotiation of key contractual relationships; federal and state regulatory compliance; financing transactions; intellectual property protection; employment matters; and, when they are ready, dissolution. She also counsels clients on complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisition, loan workouts, reorganizations and sales of businesses. On the litigation side, Marjorie assists clients with resolving business disputes -- including shareholder disputes, “business divorces,” employment grievances and customer disputes -- both in and out of court. Marjorie is a member of the American Bar Association, Oregon State Bar, Multnomah County Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, and Oregon Women Lawyers Society. She volunteers for the Lawyers Campaign for Equal Justice and Minds Matter of Portland.
Julia Fitzgerald, CPA, P.C. is the Professional Organizer Training Institute tax expert speaker. Julia is a Graduate from University of Texas with a BA in Accounting and has 14 years of experience as a practicing CPA. She has experience with Limited Liability Companies, S Corporations, Partnerships and other forms of business as well as individual tax preparation and planning. Julia provides professional accounting services especially for home businesses, small businesses, and individuals. Julia is a member of the Portlandia Club, Portland Metropolitan Photographers’ Association, Oregon Natural Step network, Greener Good and the Hillsdale Business and Professional Association. In her spare time Julia volunteers for seniors at the Neighborhood House in Multnomah Village, gardens, hikes, backpacks, cross country skis, and enjoys camping.
Monique Lee Hawthorne, Associate, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP practices real estate, business, energy, and environmental law. She counsels clients in areas pertaining to commercial transactions, renewable energy-related issues, real estate investments and environmental regulatory compliance. Monique is also involved with sustainable business practices and is a LEED Accredited Professional (one of five Oregon attorneys listed in the Green Building Certification Institute directory). The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. As a LEED Accredited Professional, she has the knowledge and skills to advise clients on all aspects of sustainable real estate, including advising clients who are interested in but don’t necessarily have the big corporation budgets. Monique has also helped many small businesses wanting to incorporate sustainability into their business practices.
